Cory, as I start my quasi-retired life, you are taking you first steps in starting your business. It will not be an easy start. Therefore, I don’t have to say some irrelevant blessings, just write down some experiences I have had. Provide you with a solid start.
Long time ago, it should have been when I was in high school, almost 50 years ago! I found a summer work-study job around the island: door-to-door selling newspapers to earn scholarship: doing the most difficult newspaper sales in a strange city, facing strange people.
On the first day, I remember it was in a small town in the countryside. The weather was very hot. We walked and started door to door selling. As you can imagine, after knocking on the door and answering the door, people rejected you before you even opened your mouth. And then, you know, it was one rejection after another, and after an hour, I regretted it and I was going to give up! It was a kind of frustration, shock and disappointment.
At the same time, I was also thinking, am I just defeated? No way! It's easier to "give up", but you can't face yourself. It's like this battle between heaven and man: give up or persevere?
From that day on, when I get up every morning, I tell myself this: At least I have completed the goal I set for myself today. No matter what the result is, I will stick to it: complete all sales talks with strangers. In this way, no matter how difficult it was, I tried my best to complete today's goal. One month later, because I didn't give up, I completed my round the island trip and completed the sales goal, earning a bonus of more than 10,000 yuan, (about US$250), $25 yuan per/sale, equivalent to 400 successful sales.
My focus is to set a period of time (for you 6-12 months at least), set a certain goal (how many people will know about you and company), and complete marketing with the least cost, that is, within a certain period of time. Let the market know your company's existence and sell your company's services on this basis.
With this kind of thinking, first of all, you must confirm your preparation of marketing tools:
1) Website that introduces the company
2) Sales kits;
3) Marketing flyers: large, medium and small; (weekly)
4) Sales Talk in social media.(weekly)
Because you are a one-man company, self-control is very important. Set your daily and weekly work goals for yourself:
--Complete several Sales talks every day (it might be helpful to write them down and make a record).
--Send several emails to friends you know well every day.
--Check point done once a week.
Persist in doing your work every day and carefully completing your goals every week. After 6, 12 months, I believe you will achieve results that you are proud of.
Another word: We are proud of you!
